Complications
Meningitis can lead to long-term damage if not diagnosed and treated quickly.
Here is a list of complications that can arise due to the disease:
Partial, sometimes total loss of hearing
Memory and concentration problems
Coordination and balance problems
Epilepsy
Cerebral palsy
Speech problems
Partial, sometimes total loss of vision
Amputations
Charlotte Lucy Cleverley-Bisman contracted Bacterial Meningitis in 2004 and the onset of the disease was incredibly fast. During the first day a dark rash appeared covering her limbs.
By the second day gangrene had developed in her limbs, which led to the need for amputation to save Charlotte's life.

Charlotte had all four of her limbs amputated, but is lucky to be alive due to the severity of the case of Meningitis she suffered.
